Engineering material and Forming technology
Syllabus:

“Engineering Material and Forming Technology Foundation” is a course which researches the metallic material used in the manufacturing area of mechanical equipments and its technology and method during the forming process. It includes the choice of engineering material, the heat treatment of steel and the fabrication technology about semi-finished products such as castings, forgings and welded structures. It is a required specialized fundamental course for the college students whose major are machinery or technology. The aim of this course is below:

(1) To let students to know the classification of the engineering material commonly used, the composition, the structure, the performance and the heat treatment method commonly used and make them to be provided with the ability to choose the suitable engineering material to satisfy the operation requirements.

(2) To let students to know the basic principles about the forming process of all kind of semi-finished products, the main technology or method of the forming process, and the basic law between the parts structure and its technology and make them to be provided with the preliminary ability to choose the suitable type of semi- finished products and its processing method, to know well the fabrication technology process of semi-finished products and to analyze the structure technology of parts.

(3) To make students to understand the new material, new method and new technology in the modern forming process.
