Traditional folk art is an important part of Chinese creation culture and is a cultural phenomenon of universal significance. Relying on life itself, it includes not only the material form of clothing, food, housing and transportation, but also the spiritual content such as the craftsmanship, customs, systems, beliefs and values. Starting from the aesthetic, functional, regional and technical aspects of folk art, this course presents a comprehensive research and analysis through classic cases, refines the common modeling methods across different categories, and explores the inheritance of traditional folk art modeling and protection. This course cultivates students' ability to explore design entry points with national cultural characteristics and comprehensive design research and problem solving.
