    1. Professional Introduction

        The training objective of this major is to train engineering and technical personnel with solid theoretical basis, professional knowledge of mechanical and electrical system design, manufacturing, testing and control, good humanities, academic and engineering literacy and international vision, management ability, communication ability and team spirit, and ability to solve complex mechanical engineering problems.

        Students in this major should be proficient in basic theoretical knowledge such as mathematics, physics, mechanics, materials science, control theory and computer. They can use theoretical analysis, physical experiments, engineering experiments, computer simulation and other means to study and solve the scientific and engineering problems of various machines in their design, manufacture, operation, use and maintenance.

        The main research directions are: mechanical and electrical system design and control, computer-aided design, robot application, micro-electromechanical system, man-machine engineering, intelligent manufacturing, precision measurement, plastic forming, heavy machinery, micro-machinery, complex mechanism, numerical simulation, system engineering, etc.

    2. Professional Characteristics and Advantages

        This major is one of the earliest and largest annual enrollment majors in the school. It is the key supporting specialty of "211 Project" and "National Advantage Discipline Innovation Platform". It is the first batch of superior specialties that the school has entered into the national "Excellence Plan" and passed the national engineering education professional certification. It has the right to confer doctoral and master's degrees.

        This major has a high-level faculty including academicians of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, academicians of the Royal Academy of Engineering of the United Kingdom, national 1000-person program candidates, winners of the National Outstanding Youth Fund, researchers of the 100-person program of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, famous teachers of teaching, etc. and a long-standing national teaching team.

        The specialty has national and provincial key laboratories and engineering centers. It cooperates with well-known domestic enterprises to establish practice bases, and has science and technology innovation bases specially for students. In recent years, the students trained in the "Challenge Cup" Competition, the International Smart Car Competition and the National Competition, the National University Robot Competition, the National University Students Energy Conservation and Emission Reduction Competition and other national science and technology competitions have achieved excellent results, ranking among the top universities in the country.
