Xin Qi received his Ph.D. in Mechanical and Electronic Engineering from University of Science and Technology Beijing in 2011. He is now an Associate Professor in the Department of Mechanical and Electronic Engineering and the head of the echelon of electromechanical system control and simulation in the School of Mechanical Engineering, University of Science and Technology Beijing. His research interests are motor drive control, AC inverter control technology, electromechanical system control and simulation, intelligent control theory and application.

So far, he has participated in and presided over eight scientific research projects. Among them, he presided over one Postdoctoral Fund of China, three Fundamental Research Funds for the Central Universities of China, one Chinese National Natural Science Fund for Young Professional,  participated in one Chinese National Natural Science Fund for Young Professional, and three Key Introducing Talents Project for Chinese University, which are researched cooperation with Professor Joachim Holtz of the  Electrical Machines and Drives Laboratory of Wuppertal University in Germany. He has published more than 20 papers.

He cooperated with Texas Instruments to build "University of Science and Technology Beijing-Texas Instruments Simulation Joint Laboratory" and "University of Science and Technology Beijing-Texas Instruments C2000 Joint Laboratory", and won the award of "Excellent Joint Laboratory of 2016TI University Program".

In June 2018, he was selected as IEEE Senior Member.
