Prof. Dr. Jianguo Cao received the B.S. and Ph.D. degrees in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Science and Technology Beijing, Beijing, China, in 1992 and 2000, respectively. He is now a Professor at the Department of Mechanical Engineering and Automation, and the Institute of Artificial Intelligent at the USTB, since 2010, as a visiting scholar at the University of California, San Diego, from 2014 to 2015.He is a member of the International Scientific Committee of the 12th(ICTP 2017,UK) and the 13th (ICTP 2020,USA) International Conference of the Technology of Plasticity, the ‘Olympic games of metal forming’ was founded in 1984, the 17th (Metal forming 2018,Japan) and the 18th (Metal forming 2020,Poland) International Conference of the Metal Forming, and the 3rd (the Roll forming 2019,China) International Conference of the Roll Forming. His group’s research interests include intelligent manufacturing and profile and flatness control based on big data, precise metal forming, e-skin for robots and medical devices. He has served as the PI of more than 50 research projects related to the development of 9 national backbone rolling mills, including the largest capacity of electrical steel strip and the stainless steel strip lines in the world, for the production of more than 80-millions ton high quality strips in China, the e-skin with high flexible and stretchable for robots and medical devices, the flexible roll forming technology for HSS/UHSS (high strength steel and ultra-high strength steel). He has more than 200 technical publications, including 140 SCI/EI referred journals and transactions and nine books. He believes in setting high expectation and helping students to exceed it by selecting innovative research topics with high impact and global view by academic cooperation with the University of California, San Diego, the University of Minnesota, the Ohio State University, the Hokkaido University, the University of Wollongong and other famous universities financial supported by the China Scholarship Council.
