Dr. Zhang received his Ph.D. in Mechanics from Tsinghua University, Beijing in 2014. He is now an associate professor at the School of Mechanical Engineering at the University of Science and Technology Beijing. His main research interests include Morphing Structures, Soft Robots, Mechanical Metamaterials, Biostructure Modellings, Steel Strip Shape Simulations, etc.

He has served as the PI of nearly 10 research projects, and the key member of other nearly 20 research projects. He has published more than 30 journal papers and applied for more than 20 invention patents.

He lectured on undergraduate courses "Numerical Calculations in Engineering", "Introduction to Light-Weighted Tensegrity Structures", graduate courses "Elastic Mechanics" and "Introduction to Analytical Mechanics", etc., and published 1 textbook.
