2019-11-11 14:41:42On the morning of July 19, 2019, professor Marian Wiercigroch of the university of Aberdeen, UK, at the invitation of lecturer liao moulin of our institute, gave an academic report titled "Nonlinear Dynamics for Engineering Design: Good Vibrations" in conference room 812 of the electromechanical building.
In this academic report, professor Wiercigroch mainly introduced the application and development of nonlinear dynamics theory in engineering practice of the applied dynamics research center of the university of Aberdeen under his leadership. At the meeting, professor Wiercigroch highlighted the resonance enhanced drilling technology, nonlinear vibration theory of pipe string and vibration energy recovery system based on the single pendulum system that his team was developing. He elaborated from theoretical modeling to experimental research, from dynamic analysis to control theory. In the end, the participants had a heated discussion with professor Wiercigroch about the content of the report. In addition, from the perspective of the chief editor of international academic journals, professor Wiercigroch also discussed his own experience on how to publish high-level academic papers, so as to help the teachers and students present their academic achievements in future scientific research activities.
After the end of the academic report, professor Wiercigroch was invited to visit the laboratory of professor Yin zhongjun and associate professor Chen bing of the department of computer control, and had an in-depth communication and exchange on some research projects of the department. The two sides agreed to carry out international academic cooperation all the time, and looked forward to the potential direction of future cooperation.
Professor Wiercigroch is a Fellow of the Royal Society of Edinburgh, Sixth Century Chair at the University of Aberdeen, founding director of the applied dynamics research centre (CADR) at the University of Aberdeen, Chief editor of International Journal of Mechanical Sciences (section 2, cas). Prof. Wiercigroch is dedicated to the theoretical and applied research of nonlinear dynamics. He has published over 350 academic papers, 18 monographs and a series of international conferences.
